Bike Rescue

Bike Rescue is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, which specialises in recycling bikes.

They're based at the Parkside Commercial Centre on Terry Avenue, just a short walk or cycle ride from town centre.

At the moment, Bike Rescue relies on people donating old bikes that are too old or broken to be wanted any more. Plans are in place to open a special recycling point for bikes at Hazel Court waste recycling centre.

If you have an old bike you want to get rid of, you can drop it off at the Bike Rescue workshop any weekday. Bikes are restored at the project workshop and then re-sold. Prices start at around £50, and all bikes are fully safety-checked and come with a three month warranty.

They also sell lights and locks, and are happy to give advice about all aspects of cycling.

The Bike Rescue project are currently on the look-out for volunteers to assist in restoring bikes. They also hope to start a venerable bicycle group whereby custodians would use, maintain and show off some of Bike Rescue's vintage cycles.
